Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a VR headset to view the videos?
Yes. These videos are created in a new immersive format designed specifically for viewing inside a VR headset. While you can stream the headset display to a TV so others can watch along, the experience does not compare.
If you’re unsure where to start, feel free to send me a message — I’m happy to recommend a headset that suits your needs and budget and can even help supply it.
How is this different from 3D TV?
3D TVs were limited in that while they did provide a sense of depth, it still felt like watching a window off in the distance. It didn’t truly feel like you were there - and so was not compelling enough to replace traditional TV. With VR180, the scene stretches across your entire visual field, allowing you to look around naturally, with realistic depth and spatial scale. Instead of watching a framed scene, you feel like you’re inside it!
How much does it cost?
Prices vary depending on travel time, session length, and event type. A typical session will cost a few hundred for an hour with 15-20 minutes of footage. Send me a message and I’ll give you a quote tailored to your needs.
What events do you film?
I cover a wide range of events — from weddings and birthday parties to real estate walkthroughs, lifestyle shoots, interviews, and more. If you have something unique in mind, just send through an enquiry. If it can be filmed, we can make it happen!
How do I access the final video?
You will receive a download link via email. There are two ways to transfer the video your device:
Option 1: Download directly to your headset (easiest)
Open the email in your VR headset’s browser.
Click the download link — the video (MP4) will download straight to your device.
Option 2: Transfer from your computer
Use a USB-A to USB-C cable like this one.
Connect your headset to your computer (accept USB transfers from within the headset so it becomes visible)
Drag the MP4 file into the DCIM folder on your headset.
Safely eject the headset — the file is now stored locally.
How do I watch the video in VR?
You’ll need a VR video player. I recommend Skybox VR Video Player
Approximately $15 AUD on the Meta Quest Store
Open Skybox, go to Local Files - All Files
Select your video
Ensure stereo mode (cube icon) is set to: Normal, 3DSBS and VR180. Keep advanced settings (gear icon) as default.
Tight on space? Skybox allows you to create a shared folder on your computer - you can keep the files here and, as long as your computer is on and on the same network, you can view the videos without taking any space on your headset. Note that with this method, you cannot view the videos when away from your computer.

How is the video quality?
These videos are shot in dual 5.3K at 30fps. Because the image stretches across a 180-degree field of view, the sharpness isn't the same as what you'd get with traditional 4K flat video.
However, the wide field of view and depth create a uniquely compelling experience that traditional video can’t replicate — a feeling like you are actually there.
VR180 is still an evolving medium, and while it’s not yet a replacement for traditional photography or video, it offers something truly compelling. You can stand where you once stood, look around the room, and feel like you’re back at your wedding, seeing how small your newborn once was, or sitting across the table from a loved one. As the technology continues to improve, so will the quality — including tools that can upscale current footage.
